Pressure washing is a method of cleaning which uses highly pressured water to blast dirt and grime from a range of different surfaces without the need for additional cleaning products.
This is a popular method for cleaning vehicles, buildings and outdoor flooring and is an effective way to remove stubborn grime which cannot simply be wiped or swept away.
Pressure washing is also favoured due to its speed. You can easily clean a surface in very little time by using a pressure washer, instead of spending extended periods of time scrubbing the dirt away by hand.
But how does pressure washing actually work? It is hard to believe you can achieve such great results using only water to clean surfaces with stubborn stains.
Pressure washers are machines which work by generating a high-pressure water jet, usually through a hose attachment, which creates a focused stream of water which blasts the dirt away.
The pressure washer itself is powered by either electricity or gas and works by powering a pump which helps to pressurise water and drive it through the hose, onto the surface being cleaned.
By forcing large volumes of water through a very small opening at high speeds, you can create what is essentially a stream of water that is so strong it can cut through material, breaking up the dirt and washing it away.
Pressure washers often have multiple hoses or nozzles which are used for different tasks and they can also have multiple settings, depending on the level of intensity you need.
This helps to ensure that you can clean a range of different items and surfaces without damaging them. For example, using a very high pressure on more delicate surfaces may damage them, so a lower pressure with a wider nozzle is better suited for this.
